Day 1: Islamabad to Mingora
Leave at 6 or 7 am and reach Mingora between 11 am and 1 pm (about 250 km). Check in, rest, and spend the evening at Fizagat Park.
Dinner tip: try chapli kebab on Jehanzeb College Road. Sleep in Mingora and withdraw enough cash for the week.
Day 2: Mingora culture and Bahrain
Morning: visit Swat Museum and Butkara stupa (about 2 to 3 hours). Afternoon: White Palace Marghazar (about 1 hour). Then drive to Bahrain, which takes about 2.5 hours from Mingora.
Have trout dinner by the river and sleep in Bahrain. Total driving today is about 80 km plus stops.
Day 3: Bahrain to Kalam
Leave Bahrain after breakfast and take the slow drive to Kalam (about 100 km, 4 hours). Check in, walk the bazaar, buy honey, and book your Mahodand jeep for tomorrow.
In the evening, walk to the river bridge. Sleep in Kalam for two nights.
Day 4: Mahodand Lake
Leave Kalam bazaar by jeep at 7 am. Plan to be at the lake between 9 and 11 am. A boat is optional at about PKR 500 to 1,000. Be back in Kalam by 2 pm.
Rest in the afternoon. Do not stack another big outing. Dinner at the hotel, then sleep in Kalam again.
Private jeep cost is usually PKR 6,000 to 8,000 return.
Day 5: Kalam to Malam Jabba
Pack slowly in the morning and leave Kalam by 10 am. Stop in Madyan for photos or lunch. Spend the afternoon at Malam Jabba. Chairlift tickets are about PKR 800 to 1,500.
Sleep near Malam Jabba, or continue down to a Miandam guesthouse. In summer this is mostly about views and cool air. In winter it becomes a snow day.
Day 6: Miandam and hidden gem
Morning: a Miandam forest walk, or snow play in season. Afternoon: stop at Shingardar stupa or Amluk-Dara if you are driving toward Mingora. If you still have an upper-valley night, Matiltan is a short optional walk near Kalam.
Sleep in Mingora or Madyan and start heading south. This is your quiet day after the bigger sights.
Day 7: Return to Islamabad
Leave the Mingora area by 8 am. You should reach Islamabad between 1 and 3 pm depending on traffic. A quick lunch stop in Mardan on the M1 is optional.
Total week driving is about 900 km. Budget about PKR 15,000 to 20,000 for sedan fuel.
